CMD DEVELOPS FOLDED BAG AUTOMATION
CMD has several new options for automating the packaging of folded trash bags and can liners. The new automation equipment interfaces with the Model 3113 high-speed poly bag folder and is designed with flexibility in mind. The Model 3113 AS has been redesigned to include an optional auto stacker. The optional auto stacker efficiently collects folded stacks with 4” to 13” widths and 4” to 13” lengths. Stacks can be dropped at a rate of 30 per minute. The folder and stacker are controlled from one convenient touch screen. Features include production data collection, automatic product set-up and self-diagnostics. The optional clean-out conveyor allows adjustments to be made upstream or downstream of the auto stacker without stopping the line

Converters can choose from several styles of automation/conveying to suit their application.
  • The Model 1109 FAP provides complete folded bag automation and conveying into larger-count cartons. Designed to fill boxes up to 11” wide, 9” long and 10” tall with folded bags or liners, the Model 1109 glues, closes and conveys the boxes with labor-saving efficiency. The entire filling process of the Model 1109 FAP runs effortlessly with upstream equipment running at up to 600 feet per minute.

The infeed conveyor accepts empty boxes, which are then prepared for filling in the staging area. Empty box flaps are broken back and boxes are conveyed along with perfect timing to accept folded bags in the 4-station turreted filling station. Filled boxes are conveyed and minor and major flaps are folded and closed. The major flap is cleanly and securely glued, completing the packaging filling and closing sequence. Finally, the filled box is conveyed for skidding or secondary packaging downstream.

  • The Model 3113 ASBC provides efficient “bucket” collection and conveying of stacks of folded bags. The bucket-style conveyor can collect and convey a variety of stack heights into downstream containers

  • The Model 3113 ASCC efficiently collects folded bags into chipboard containers.
The Cross-convey design saves floor space. An optional twist-tie inserter can be easily integrated.

Benefits of automating the take-off end of the folded bag converting line include:

• Cut labor costs by reducing or eliminating packers
• Enhance product consistency by eliminating or reducing miscounts
• Enhance folded product dispensing from chipboard or corrugated containers
• Improve folded product presentation and appearance
• Reduce labor-related costs associated with repetitive motion injuries Increase productivity and profits
