(JUNE 1, 2006) APPLETON, WI – CMD Corporation has completed the acquisition of all assets of Proven Design, Incorporated (PDI), an experienced designer and manufacturer of custom pre-made pouch equipment. CMD is industry-recognized for high-speed bag and pouch converting systems for the flexible packaging and blown-film sectors, as well as form, fill, seal packaging equipment and proprietary product development and custom engineering. Although several suitors in the industry vied for the coveted PDI intellectual property and pouch machine product lines, the deal makes CMD the legal owner of all assets. 

“We are extremely pleased with the PDI acquisition and feel this alignment offers our customers an even deeper and broader product line and skill set,” remarked CMD President John Schmidt. PDI is well known for robust pouch equipment of superior technical performance. Having served the flexible packaging industry for 25 years, PDI designed and built machinery for a variety of market segments, including: medical device packaging, tamper-evident security pouches, padded mailing envelopes, packing list envelopes, retort & microwave packaging and bottom /side gusset stand-up pouches.

CMD will provide PDI customers the support of a large, dedicated and highly experienced staff. The firm has readied their technical service and parts sales team to provide PDI customers with the same high-quality product support that has long been a CMD trademark. 

“We intend to fully support PDI’s legacy of innovation and will utilize CMD engineering resources and the CMD Technology Center, to provide customized solutions for the marketplace,” notes Schmidt.
