Global Post-Applied Closure System (GPACS)

Schedule your pouch converting assets with no limitation. GPACS efficiently applies popular Slide Closures to a variety of side-gusset pouch sizes from ANY machine.

FEATURES

GPACS will accomodate:

  • Pouch face widths from 150 mm (6 in) to 580mm (23 in)
  • Pouch heights from 200 mm (8 in) to 1016mm (40 in)
  • Side gusset depths from 25 mm (1 in) to 200mm (8 in)
(GPACS can also be configured to attach slide zipper to Bottom-Gusset pouches)

Operator-friendly features for efficient converting:

  • Modular design lets you set up the sealing and
punching stations to fit your needs
  • Light curtain guarding protects your most important
    asset - your operators
  • Precision-built, zero-clearance punch/die sets provide
    years of trouble-free service
  • Machine controls are conveniently located at both
    ends of the machine
  • Color touch screen, user-friendly set-up and
    changeover
  • Ethernet-equipped, data acquisition, job storage
  • Quality control features include cull and redundant feed
  • All-servo motion control
  • Two-position pneumatic sealing minimizes radiant heat
    damage during process stoppages
  • Vacuum valves on Pick-n-Place system reduce overall
    air consumption

The Global Post-Applied Closure System Process

  • FEED: Operator loads the infeed hoppers. Each of four hoppers has multiple stack capability, freeing the operator to offload finished pouches and monitor the process. A 5th hopper is for the cull/redundant feed system.
GPACS features precise servo-controlled linear actuators for pouch placement onto the infeed conveyor.
Additional air-assisted pouch orientation aligns the process edge of the pouch precisely and consistently.
Transition nip receives the pouch from the continuous motion infeed and delivers to an intermittent processing conveyor.
  • PUNCH: The top corners of the pouch are cleanly punched in such a way as to liberate the outside layers of the pouch from the gusset folds.
This allows the face and back panels to be folded back, exposing the tops of the gussets.
  • TRIM: The top 10mm of the gussets are trimmed away.
  • APPLY: The slide zipper flange material is precisely segmented to the desired width and applied to the inside of the pouch.
A tack seal is applied to affix the slide zipper segment to the bottom panel, covering the gusset top edges.
Multiple sealing stations are utilized to evenly distribute sealing heat and avoid excessive heat in any one seal zone.
  • SEAL AND DELIVER: Once the slide zipper segment is securely affixed to the pouch, the top panel is re-introduced into place and the corners are properly sealed together, completing the attachment process.
The finished pouch is delivered to an indexing stacking table, which is capable of providing either discreet stacks of finished pouches, or a continuous ‘shingled’ presentation.
